Big mouth black bass exist in abundance in the lakes, rivers and fishing dams throughout the Fancourt estate. This freshwater species is popular amongst fishing enthusiasts and presents plenty of opportunity for novice and experienced anglers. Fishing rods and tackle are for hire for R100 per set and this sport can be enjoyed on the resort on a catch and release basis.
A number of outdoor hiking and running trails surround the expansive Fancourt Estate, starting at the Witfontein Nature Reserve. It is from this area at the foot of the Outeniqua mountains that weekly trail runs begin, taking adventurous Fancourt guests and members off the beaten track. This forested area is home to the majestic indigenous plant life that has come to characterise South Africa’s esteemed Garden Route. Trails vary in difficulty and distance from 8-18km, providing a broad spectrum of tracks for casual walkers and trail runners. The resort itself encompasses 2.5km, 5km and 10km paved trails which are fit for walking or jogging.
Fancourt’s leisure offering includes invigorating cycling trails around the Geelhoutboom farmland area. Designed to provide cyclists with a panoramic view of the estate in absolute safety, these trails are ideal for family leisure time. Varying between 15km and 30km, the trails make provision for difference fitness levels. Three different grades of mountain bicycles are available to hire from Fancourt’s Leisure Centre, ranging from R100 to R300 per half-day trip.
